Robotaxi at HKG: testing

Hong Kong International Airport, Hong Kong. Status: Testing

Updated .

Hong Kong International has no public robotaxi rides. Apollo Go, Baidu's service, holds driverless testing permits and tests on Airport Island without carrying passengers.

A trial is reported for nearby Tung Chung. From Oct 21, 2026, Apollo Go plans a free 14-day community trial for Islands District residents, with a backup operator aboard, on a loop of about 5.1 km between Yat Tung Estate and Sheraton Tung Chung, as reported by Dimsum Daily. This reported future trial is meant for local residents, not air travelers. Baidu has not confirmed those trial details itself. Apollo Go is testing in Hong Kong, and no other operator runs there.

Baidu's Q2 2026 results put Apollo Go in 28 cities worldwide. In Hong Kong its work so far is testing, including on Airport Island, and the reported Tung Chung loop would be the first time local residents ride. Visitors who want an Apollo Go ride today need to go to mainland China, covered on the China page.
