What's happening in Hong Kong
Visitors can't ride a robotaxi in Hong Kong. Apollo Go holds fully driverless testing permits here and tests on Airport Island, where Hong Kong International Airport sits, but it offers no public rides at the airport.
A resident-only trial is reported for later this month. Dimsum Daily reported on Oct 13, 2026 that Apollo Go plans a free 14-day community trial in Tung Chung starting Oct 21, 2026 and ending Nov 3. The reported eligibility is Islands District residents only. The loop is about 5.1 km, between Yat Tung Estate and Sheraton Tung Chung, and the reported plan includes a backup operator in the vehicle. Baidu has not confirmed these details itself.
No booking app has been named for Hong Kong, and Uber has no role here. At Phoenix Sky Harbor in the US, Waymo already serves riders, while at HKG the work is still testing. Apollo Go's driverless public service runs in mainland China and in Dubai, the places to go to ride with the same operator.
