What to know in Dubai

Uber is the easiest way in. WeRide launched fully driverless, fare-charging rides on Uber on Mar 31, 2026. Pick the 'Autonomous' option, and a car from a fleet managed by Tawasul can pick you up. Apollo Go began fully driverless commercial ride-hailing with the RTA through its own Apollo Go app (the app went live in March, and the launch release is dated Apr 1, 2026). On Aug 20, 2026, Apollo Go joined Uber as well. Its RT6 vehicles, run by New Horizon, can be matched on UberX, Uber Comfort or 'Autonomous' requests. Uber called this the first multi-partner autonomous network globally.

Coverage is still small. At launch both services serve select parts of Jumeirah and Umm Suqeim. WeRide's RTA trial permit also covers further districts, such as Dubai Silicon Oasis and Nad Al Sheba, for gradual expansion. No airport service is listed. WeRide rides are fare-charging, but no fare table has been published.

Pony.ai is the third name. It began driverless trials in Dubai in April 2026 and expects paid public service later in 2026, and until then its cars carry no public riders. Uber matches Waymo in Austin and Atlanta, but each of those has one driverless partner on Uber, where Dubai has two. See the WeRide and Apollo Go Dubai pages for each service.
