Riding WeRide in Dubai
Riders choose 'Autonomous' in the Uber app, and a WeRide car from a fleet managed by Tawasul can be sent. Rides are charged, but neither company has published a fare table, so the price you see in Uber is the only guide. Nothing has been published on airport pickups, freeway use or age limits.
Service started in Jumeirah and Umm Suqeim. The RTA trial permit covers more districts, including Dubai Silicon Oasis and Nad Al Sheba, and WeRide said it is committed to long-term operations in Dubai and will keep growing its local fleet. No dates have been given for when those districts open to riders.
WeRide was the first of Dubai's two driverless services to charge fares on Uber. Apollo Go launched in its own app around the same time and joined Uber in August, and its cars can also turn up on ordinary UberX or Comfort requests, while WeRide is tied to the 'Autonomous' option. Pony.ai is still in trials. Anyone who has ridden WeRide in Abu Dhabi will find the Dubai setup the same, through Uber with nobody in the driver's seat.
