Riding WeRide in Abu Dhabi
Request a ride in the Uber app inside the service area and a WeRide car can be matched, so visitors need no extra download. WeRide and Uber called the Nov 2025 switch the Middle East's first fully driverless robotaxi commercial operations, and Uber's newsroom described it as Level 4. TechCrunch's Uber deal tracker, updated Aug 1, 2026, also lists Abu Dhabi as going driverless in November 2025.
Coverage grew in steps. Service began on Yas Island routes and expanded in July 2025 to about half of Abu Dhabi's core areas, including Al Reem and Al Maryah, which makes WeRide the wider of the city's two robotaxi options. No airport is listed and freeway use is unknown. Neither WeRide nor Uber has published fares or age rules for Abu Dhabi.
Apollo Go is booked in the AutoGo app and, per KrASIA, was limited to Yas Island at launch. WeRide uses the same Uber setup across the Gulf. In Dubai it has run driverless and charged fares since Mar 31, 2026, while its Uber rides in Riyadh still carry a vehicle operator. Every WeRide city appears on the WeRide page.
