How much does a Waymo ride cost?
Waymo has no single national fare. Each trip is priced from a minimum fare plus distance and time, and the total can move with demand. You see an estimate in the app before booking, and Las Vegas is the only city where Waymo publishes its actual rate.

Work out a Waymo fare on the published Las Vegas rate
Waymo publishes one city rate: Las Vegas, at $9.49 to start, plus $1.23 a mile and $0.45 a minute, before tolls, fees and surcharges. Other cities use the same three factors but their rates aren't published, so treat this as a sense of scale.
| Trip | Fare |
|---|---|
| 2 miles, 8 minutes | $15.55 |
| 5 miles, 15 minutes | $22.39 |
| 10 miles, 25 minutes | $33.04 |
How Waymo works out a fare
Waymo's help center names three inputs for a trip price: a minimum price, the trip's distance and the time it takes. Demand and the number of cars free at that moment can push the price up or down as well. The app shows an estimate before you request the ride, though Waymo says the final price may differ from it.
A Waymo spokesperson told the Denver Gazette in September 2026 that pricing "is dynamic and comparable to other ride-hailing services." In practice, the same two addresses can get different quotes at different times. To see how much a particular trip swings, check the estimate a few minutes apart or at a quieter hour.
Las Vegas, the one city with a posted rate
On its Trip pricing page, Waymo spells out the Las Vegas formula: a base rate of $9.49, then $1.23 per mile and $0.45 per minute. Tolls, fees and surcharges come on top, and the page cites an airport access fee as one example.
Two caveats apply. Waymo's Las Vegas service still runs driverless with a waitlist, letting public riders in gradually from sign-ups since Sep 14, 2026, inside a service area of nearly 24 sq mi that leaves out freeways. And News 3 LV reported that Waymo's Las Vegas rides don't yet include Harry Reid International Airport, which makes the airport fee example generic wording. The Waymo in Las Vegas page covers that market.
Elsewhere, Waymo hasn't published a base or per-mile figure. The in-app estimate is the only official number a rider gets.
What riders have paid in San Francisco
Obi, an app that compares ride prices, looked at 94,348 rides in the San Francisco Bay Area between late November 2025 and early January 2026. It found an average Waymo fare of $19.69, down from $20.43 in its April 2025 sample, which works out to $5.72 per kilometer. The Waymo and Uber dollar averages come from TechCrunch's write-up of the study.
A follow-up from Obi covered March 1 to April 14, 2026. Measured against the winter window, Waymo's average price climbed 18% and its price per mile 4%. Those results were given as percentage changes, so there is no updated dollar average to quote.
Phoenix numbers are scarcer. RideWise examples cited by the Denver Gazette include a 4.5-mile trip from downtown to Camelback that Waymo quoted at $13.45, a figure Waymo hasn't confirmed. The Waymo vs Uber price page sets it against the Uber quote.
Waymo Premier membership
Waymo Premier, announced Jun 11, 2026, is an invite-only membership at $29.99 a month. The first members were select riders in San Francisco, Los Angeles and Phoenix.
Members earn at least 10% back in Waymo Cash on eligible trips, with a higher rate in busy periods. Their pickups get priority, up to five cancellation fees a month are waived, and they get early access when Waymo opens a new city. Under the terms, last modified Jun 10, 2026, the benefits cover rides booked in the Waymo app, so a trip taken through a partner app doesn't count.
Fees on top of the fare
The quoted fare isn't always what you end up paying. At pickup the app shows how long the car will wait, and if you miss that window the ride cancels and a no-show fee may apply. Cancelling can also cost money, which is why waived cancellation fees are one of Premier's perks.
Waymo's rider rules set a $100 fee for smoking or vaping on a first violation. A mess costs $50 to clean if you report it yourself and $100 if you don't, again for a first violation. Las Vegas trips can also pick up tolls and surcharges, an airport access fee among them, on top of the base, distance and time charges.
Waymo rides booked through Uber or Lyft
Riders in Austin and Atlanta can only get a Waymo through the Uber app, which shows the price before you confirm. Lyft says that in Nashville, Standard, Priority Pickup, Wait & Save and Extra Comfort requests can be matched with a Waymo at no additional cost. The pricing rules described above apply to trips booked in the Waymo app.
