Riding May Mobility in Atlanta
The pilot started on Sep 10, 2025, with a small group of Toyota Sienna vehicles. Lyft calls the people aboard standby operators, fully trained to take the wheel. TechCrunch reported the hours as Monday through Friday for part of the day, so weekend riders are out of luck.
Service covers Midtown and reaches into Virginia-Highland, the Old Fourth Ward and Inman Park, a handful of neighborhoods with no published square-mile figure. Riders never touch a May Mobility app in Atlanta. Lyft matches the vehicles to standard or Wait & Save requests and has published no surcharge information for them. The pilot includes no airport, and no published source covers freeways or a minimum rider age.
Waymo, the other Atlanta operator taking riders, has no one at the wheel, books through Uber and covers 65 sq mi from Buckhead to Capitol View, Midtown included. Zoox is still only testing in Atlanta. Outside Georgia, May Mobility runs vehicles with onboard operators in Eden Prairie and Grand Rapids, Minnesota, where state law requires a licensed human driver, and it targets an Uber launch in Arlington, Texas, in Q4 2026 or Q1 2027.
