What's happening in Arlington

Arlington sits between Dallas and Fort Worth, and its robotaxi plans run through Uber. In a press release filed with the SEC on Sep 16, 2026, May Mobility said it targets commercial operations with Uber in Arlington in Q4 2026 or Q1 2027.

Service has not started. One third-party listing shows May Mobility in Arlington as running on Uber, but no launch has been confirmed, so Arlington remains an announced city. Any launch also falls under Texas rules. Under SB 2807, companies running commercial automated vehicles must hold an active TxDMV authorization, a requirement that applied from May 28, 2026. The Texas rules page has more. May Mobility hasn't said whether Arlington cars will carry an operator, though its Atlanta pilot uses a standby operator.

Next door, Dallas already has public rides. Waymo has been open to anyone in its app there since Aug 4, 2026, across about 50 sq mi of central Dallas, and Tesla Robotaxi runs in the urban core. Avride also operates on Uber in Dallas with a specialist behind the wheel.
