Riding Zoox in Dallas
That Electrek report said Zoox was expanding testing to Dallas and Phoenix, with mapping work and a Dallas depot. It is the only source on Zoox in Dallas, and Zoox hasn't confirmed the details. Nothing has been published on an area, a start date for riders or an airport plan.
Zoox's path in other cities gives a rough sense of what comes next. Austin and Miami opened rides first to employees and their friends and family, and San Francisco moved on to free rides for waitlisted members of the public through Zoox Explorers. Paid public service exists only in Las Vegas, at fixed stops on and near the Strip, booked in the Zoox app. Dallas hasn't reached even the employee stage in any report.
Three services do take Dallas riders. Waymo is open to anyone in its app across about 50 sq mi of central Dallas, and Tesla Robotaxi covers about 31 sq mi through its own app. Avride on Uber puts a specialist behind the wheel in a 9 sq mi downtown core. Mobileye-powered vehicles on Lyft were announced for Dallas as soon as 2026, but no launch has been found, and the Dallas page compares them all.
