What's happening in Munich

Munich has no robotaxi rides and no confirmed testing, only two plans tied to Uber. Uber and Momenta said they planned Level 4 testing in Munich in 2026, and no source has confirmed that testing has begun. Separately, TechCrunch reported that Uber named Autobrains in June 2026 for a planned Munich robotaxi program, pending regulatory approval. Neither Uber nor Autobrains has confirmed that publicly.

Both plans name the Uber app as the booking channel, so a visitor's existing account would likely work if rides ever open. Neither company has published a service area, a start date, fares or whether a safety driver would ride along.

Germany's more active city is Hamburg, where MOIA runs a free, resident-only pilot with a safety operator aboard. Supervised robotaxis that anyone can book on Uber in Europe run today in Zagreb and London. Across the Atlantic, US cities such as Atlanta already have public driverless rides on Uber.

The Momenta plan dates to September 2025, when electrive reported that Uber and Momenta would test in Munich in 2026. TechCrunch's August 2026 Uber deal tracker is the source for the Autobrains program. Neither report names a neighborhood, a vehicle or a fleet size.
