Zurich has a robotaxi plan but no rides. On Jun 17, 2026, WeRide and Uber announced a commercial robotaxi service in Greater Zurich, with rides offered through the Uber app at launch, subject to regulatory approval.

The first phase would have safety drivers. WeRide's CEO pointed to about Dec 2026 for the commercial start, and ZAG Daily reported that WeRide hopes to launch fully driverless robotaxi operations with Uber in Zurich and Madrid by mid-2027. WeRide already holds a driverless permit for Furttal. One report says testing in Zurich has begun. That claim is unconfirmed, so Zurich stays an announced city rather than a testing one.

Zurich and Madrid are on the same track with the same partners, and Madrid is slightly ahead with a national testing permit already issued. No service area, fare or airport plan has been published for Zurich.
