Riding Tesla in Orlando
Orlando and Tampa launched on the same day. Multiple outlets reported that the Orlando cars run with no one in the front seats, and Tesla Oracle wrote that no safety personnel were present. The 26.2 sq mi zone sits on the east and southeast side of the city, covering Conway, Azalea Park and Lee Vista along Semoran Blvd (SR 436), with SR 408 on the north, SR 417 on the east and the Beachline (SR 528) on the south.
Tesla Oracle reported that the zone runs near Orlando International Airport along the Semoran and Lee Vista corridor without covering it, so Tesla won't get you to a flight. Book in the Tesla Robotaxi app. You need to be 18 to book or ride alone, kids 8 to 17 can ride in a Model Y with an adult, and children under 8 can't ride. Highway use and Orlando fares haven't been published.
Tesla and Waymo barely overlap here. Waymo's zone of about 60 sq mi sits to the west, taking in Parramore, downtown, Richmond Heights, Williamsburg, Florida Center and Southwest Orlando, and it is booked in the Waymo app. East of downtown near Conway, Tesla is the robotaxi that reaches you, and the downtown core belongs to Waymo. Neither serves MCO.
