Riding WeRide in China

WeRide's Aug 12, 2026 investor release said its Guangzhou service area had tripled since the end of 2025 and now spans Huangpu, Tianhe and Haizhu, with commercial service 24/7. For Beijing, the company says only that it continues to expand the area of its fully driverless robotaxis, without naming districts.

No booking app for WeRide in China has been published, and Uber isn't a listed channel there. Fares, airport service and age rules are unknown for both cities, as is whether visitors from abroad can sign up. Confirm the booking route before heading to Guangzhou.

Abroad, WeRide leans on ride-hail partners. It runs fully driverless on Uber in Abu Dhabi and Dubai, and with a vehicle operator on Uber in Riyadh. In Singapore it runs the free Ai.R service with Grab in Punggol, with safety operators. Uber partnerships also cover testing in Madrid and plans in Zurich. Within China, Pony.ai also serves Guangzhou, and Apollo Go reports the largest ride totals.
