About Motional

Motional runs one service, in Las Vegas, and you reach it only through Uber. Rides launched on Mar 13, 2026 in Hyundai IONIQ 5 robotaxis with a human vehicle operator behind the wheel. The car drives itself, but a trained person sits in the driver's seat for the whole trip. Motional expects to go fully driverless by the end of 2026, though that has not been confirmed.

The service area is a set of pickup points, not the whole city. Riders can be picked up or dropped at rideshare zones at Resorts World and Encore on Las Vegas Blvd, at Westgate, at the curb in Downtown Las Vegas, and at Town Square. Motional has no other city that is live, in testing or announced.

Visitors to Las Vegas have other robotaxi choices. Zoox runs fully driverless rides between fixed stops on the Strip and at the airport, and Waymo is admitting riders from a waitlist. Nevada law lets fully autonomous vehicles run without a human operator if they meet the state's conditions, as the Nevada rules page explains.

Booking and riding

Open Uber and request UberX, Uber Electric, Uber Comfort or Comfort Electric for a trip that starts and ends in Motional's zones. If a Motional car is available you may be matched with it, at no additional cost compared with the product you picked. Motional has no separate app and no waitlist.

Harry Reid International Airport is not in Motional's service area. Motional describes Town Square as near the airport, which is as close as it gets. For a robotaxi pickup at the airport itself, Zoox serves Terminals 1 and 3, with details on the Harry Reid airport page. Age, luggage and pet questions fall under Uber's standard rules for the request you make.

Recalls and investigations

Motional has no recalls or regulator investigations on record. The one logged event is its supervised launch on Uber in Las Vegas on Mar 13, 2026, and a vehicle operator has been behind the wheel on every ride since. A move to driverless rides, or any recall or investigation, would be added to the safety log.
